Genoveva Fierro


The steamship Macarena was built in Grangemouth in Scotland, and launched 1893 for the Spanish company Sevilliana de Navegacion. She was sold in 1920 to Fierro and was renamed Genoveva Fierro. Under a journey from Gijon to Bilbao loaded with coal she collided with the steamer Antonia. Heavily damaged she was taken in tow towards Bilbao wbut foundered on her way to safe harbor 15. December 1925. Thewreck was found by divers in May 2000, resting in two parts on a depth of 50 meter outside Punta del Pescador.
