Hispania was laid down by Antwerp Engineering Company and was launched in December 1912 for Swedish Lloyds AB. She changed owners several times during her career, and sailed both for the government of Vichy France and Kriegsmarine. She was returned to her owners in late 1942. Under a journey from Liverpool to Varberg loaded with rubber and steel, she hit ground at Sound of Mull 18. December 1954 and developed a critical listing. Order to abandon ship was given but the captain chose to stay on board and went down with the ship. The wreck rest today on her keel with a listing towards starboard like a classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of 24 to 32 meter in Sound of Mull.
