M 1108 - Dr.Eichelbaum

Dr.Eichelbaum was built as a fishing trawler in Hamburg in 1938 for the German company Fochs. In September 1939 she was requisitioned by Kriegsmarine and refitted as a minesweeper. She was renamed M 1108 and stood ready for duty in early 1049. But she was never going to do any service for the Kriegsmarine. 13.April 1940 she disappeared in the deep outside Denmark, and the reason for it is still debated. Most likely she hit a mine and sank. The wreck of M-1108 rest today standing on her keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of 21 to 28 meter in Langelandsbælt.
