Madeirense was built by Estalieros Sao Jacinto in Aveiro, and was launched in 1962 for the Portuguese company Empresa de Transportes do Funchal Ltd. She was sold two times during her career and last registered owner is Porto Santo Line. In 2000 she was deliberately scuttled outside Santo Porto in Madeira to create an artificial reef and dive target. The wreck rest today on her keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck with a slight listing on a depth of 25 to 34 meter.
