U 1271


U 1271 was a type VIIC/41 uboat laid down at Bremer Vulkan in April 1943. She was launched in December that same year, and was commissioned in January 1944. She was assigned to 8. Unterseeboot Flottila in Danzing under command of Oberleutnant zur see Erwin Knipping.. In April 1945 she was sent to 33. Flotilla in Flensburg under command of Oberleutnant Sven Thienemann.  She was never sent on any war patrols, and when the war ended in May 1945 she laid in Bergen, She was sent to Scotland after the German capitulation, and was sunk outside Ireland 8. December 1945 under Operation Deadlight. The wreck rest today on her keel on a depth of 60 meter northeast of Malin Head.
