U 2511 was a type XXII uboat built by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg, and was launched in September 1944. She was put in service in 31.Unterseebootflotille as a training boat from September to March 1945, and then transferred to active duty in 11.Flotille in Bergen. She never got time to be sent on any war patrols before the war ended. After the German capitulation she was sent to the Shetland islands, and under Operation Deadlight she was scuttled outside the coast of Ireland 2. January 1946. The wreck rest today northwest of Cardanaugh on a depth of 69 meter.
