The
helicopter Westland Wessex was a British version of the
well known Sikorsky H-34. They were used both by the Royal Navy and Royal Air
Force from 1961 to the early 1990s. Irs estimated that
382 were built between 1958 and 1970. Some were also
exported to other countries. On the north side of Stoney
Cove, the wreck of a Wessex helicopter rest today on a
depth of approximately 20 to 22 meter.
