NRP
P1147 Zambeze was one of ten Cacine class ocean patrol
boats built, and was launched in 1971 for the Portuguese
Navy. In the beginning of the 1990's these ships were
upgraded with new engines, but they were in general
becoming outdated. She did service until 2004 when she
finally got stricken from the navy lists. After being
rigged down and cleaned up she was scuttled at Portimao
outside Algerva 30. October 2012 as part of a program to
create artificial reefs. The wreck rest today standing
on her keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of
25 meter.
