The B 17 G with serial number 44-6630 was part of the US Air Force 97th Bomb Group and entered serivce in October 1944. As the story goes according to some historical sources, she was damaged under training 6. November 1944 and was ditched in the sea. One man from the crew lost his life in the accident. The wreck was found by divers in 2002, and rest today on a depth of 65 to 72 meter some 150 meter from shore on the south side of the island of Vis.
