Douglas C-47 Skytrain


The details and history of this specific airplane is more or less a mystery, but according to most sources, she served as a transport plane for the Turkish Air Force until she was retired from service in the late 1990's. Accoding to local dive clubs, the plane was donated to the local diving society and deliberately sunk as an artificial reef and dive attraction 1. July 2009. The wreck of the transport plane rest today nicely placed on her belly on a depth of approximately 15 to 27 meters in the bay south of Kas.
