The
VLLC tanker Haven was built in Cadiz in Spain and launched
in 1973 under the name Amoco Milford Haven. She
went i different routes in the Persian Gulf before she in
the late 1980s was chartered by the Cypriot company
Troodos Shipping. 11.April 1991 she laid outside Genova
and loaded oil when suddenly the cargo caught fire. Five
men immediately perished in the fire and two days later
the burning wreck had to be taken under tow todwards shore
to ease the rescue work and limit the oil spill. She broke
in two parts on the third day and the bow disappeared in
the deep, while the rest sank of the hull on a depth of 33
to 80 meter outside Arenzano.
