Nordland was a container and general cargo ship laid down by Martin Jansen GmbH & Co. KG in Germany, and was launched in 1986 for Nordland Schiffahrtsgesellschaft GmbH in Dörpen. She was later chartered by Scanscot Shipping Services in St. Johns in Antigua & Barbuda. Under a journey from Canada to Turkey loaded with perlite, she hit ground outside the island of Kythira 29. August 2000. She started leaking oil and the nearby beaches was for a time polluted. The wreck rest today with her bow above the waterline and the stern on a depth of 32 meter outside the island of Prasonisi.
