Peltastis

Croatia,Adriatic Sea

Alsterpark was a general cargo ship laid down at D.W Kremer & Sohn in Germany, and was launched in 1953 for the company Weidtmann & Balinn in Hamburg. She was sold in 1967 to the Greek company Atlantis Mercantile & Shipping in Patras, and was renamed to Peltatis. Under a journey from Croatia to Tunis loaded with chemicals and timber, she dragged the anchor under a storm and hit ground and sank outside Krk 8. January 1968. One man lost his life under the accident.  The wreck rest today on her keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of 20 to 32 meter fifty meter from shore northwest of Silo on the island of Krk.
