Bikra
Princess was laid down at Vousaari Shipyard in Finland in
1984, and was launched in October 1985 for the company
Birka Line. She was sold in 2006 to Louis Hellenic Cruise
Lines and was renamed Sea Diamond. The year after, 4.
April 2007 while at the harbor area outside Santorini
island, she run aground and developed a serious leak. It
was ordered to abandon ship, and attempts to keep her
afloat was made. It soon became clear she was no longer
sea worthy, and she was towed off the bank to the nearby
cliffs, where she sank 6.April 2007. The wreck rest today
on a depth of 62 to 180 meters, right below the cliffs
north of Athinios port. It has been decided several times
by Greek authorities to raise the wreck, but so far no
salvage attempts has been made.
