Theophile Gautier


Theophile Gautier was laid down by Chantiers et Ateliers de France in Dunquerque, and was launched in June 1926 for the French company Messageries Maritimes in Marseilles. Under a journey from Greece to France 3. October 1941 she was spotted and torpedoed in the evening by the British submarine HMS Talisman under command of Lieutenant Commander Michael Willmott. She disappeared in the deep the following day. The wreck rest today on a depth of 95 to 110 meter northeast of the island of Kea.
