Theophile
Gautier was laid down at Chantiers et Ateliers de France
and launched 26.June 1926. She sailed for the French
company Messageries Maritimes in Marseille. Under a
journey from Greece to France 3.October 1941 she was
spotted and torpedoed in the evening by the British
submarine HMS Talisman under command of Lt.Commander
Michael Willmott. She sank the day after and the wreck
rest today on a depth of 95 to 111 meter northeast of the
island of Kea.
