The
tanker Sea Falcon was built at Smiths Dock & Co in
Middlesborough, and launched 31.May 1969 for the Norwegian
company Graff-Wang & Evjen in Oslo. In 1973 she was
sold to Libya, and two years after she sailed for the
company General National Maritime Transport & Co in
Tripoli. While she laid at dry dock 2.February 1995 a
sudden explosion totally wrecked the ship and killed nine
dock workers. She was left alone until 2.September 1998
when she was scuttled as an artificial reef. The wreck
rest today standing on her keel on a depth of 15 to 35
meter southwest of Wied Iz Zurrieg.
