Um El Faroud


The tanker Sea Falcon was laid down by Smiths Dock & Company in Middlesborough, and was launched 31. May 1969 for the Norwegian company Graff Wang & Evjen in Oslo. In 1973 she was sold to Libya, and two years after she sailed for the company General National Maritime Transport & Company in Tripoli. While she laid at dry dock 2. February 1995 a sudden explosion totally wrecked the ship and killed nine dock workers. The burnt out wreck was left alone until 2. September 1998 when she was deliberately scuttled as an artificial reef. The wreck rest today standing on her keel as a classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of 15 to 35 meter southwest of Wied Iz Zurrieg.
