Zenobia was laid down as a Challenger RO-RO ferry by Kockums Varv in Malmö, and was launched in August 1979 for Nordö Rederi AB. Under her maiden voyage to Syria loaded with vehicles and food in June 1980, she developed a listing in the Mediterranean and had to seek harbor in Larnaca for repairs. Unable to solve the mechanical problem she was later towed out of the harbor and laid up at anchor 4. June 1980 outside Larnaca. Three days later she capsized and disappeared in the deep east of Makenzie Beach. The wreck of Zenobia rest today one nautical mile outside Larnaca on a depth of 15 to 40 meter.
