Nemesis was laid down at Marietta Manufacturing Company in
Point Pleasant, and was launched in July 1934. She was
commissioned three months later. Under second world war
she was stationed in St. Petersburg in Florida and was
assigned with hunting uboats and escort duties.She earned
herself one battle award for her service in the war. She
was decommissioned in November 1964, and sold to Auto
Marine Engineering two years later. In 1981 she was
converted to a floating restaurant, and renamed Ancient
Mariner. She was deliberately scuttled as an artificial
reef 9. June 1991. The wreck rest today on her keel as a
classic Donald Duck wreck on a depth of 15 to 22 meter
outside Pompano Beach.
