The paddle steamer Detroit was built in Newport in Rhode Island, and was launched in 1846. Under a journey from Detroit to Chicago loaded with timber and hay she collided with the barque Nucleus and sank outside Aux Barques 25. May 1854. The wreck of Detroit was found by the wreck hunter David Trotter in July 1994 on a depth of 50 to 60 meter outside Harbor Beach in Lake Huron. Also see the wreck of Clifton who was found by David Trotter in 2016.
