The steamship Emperor was built at Collingwood Dry Dock Shipbuilding & Foundry Company, and was launched in December 1910. Six years later she sailed for the company Canada Steamship Lines Ltd. She left Ontario loaded with iron ore 4. June 1947, and soon after she hit ground at Canao Rocks. She disappeared in the deep in less than thirty minutes, and twelve men from the crew lost their lives. The wreck rest today on a depth of 10 to 50 meter at the north side of Canao Rocks, northeast of Isle Royale.
