Francis E Powell

The
tanker Macy Willis was laid down at Baltimore Dry
Dock & Shipbuilding Company in 1922 for US Shipping
Board. The year after she was renamed Francis E Powell and
did service for Atlantic Refining Company in Philadelphia.
27.January 1942 she was torpedoed by the German uboat
U-130 under command of Ernst Kals. Four men of the crew
perished in the sinking. The remains of Francis rest today
on a depth of 25 meter outside Parramore Island.
