John Morgan

John
Morgan was a Liberty ship built at Bethlehem Shipbuilding
in Baltimore, and was launched in May 1943. Under her
maiden voyage sailing from Philadelphia to Bandar Shahpur
loaded with P-39 airplanes, tanks, arms, and ammunition
she collided with the steamer Montana 1.June 1943. She
broke in two parts exploded before she disappeared in the
deep.67 people lost their lives in the accident. The
broken remains of John Morgan rest today on a depth of 30
to 35 meter northeast
of Virginia Beach.
