The destroyer HMCS Mackenzie was built by Canadian Vickers Ltd and launched for the Canadian navy in May 1961. She was commissioned the year after and did service from October 1962 till August 1993. Two years after she was stricken from the navy lists she was sold to Artificial Reef Society to be scuttled as an artificial reef. Outside Gooch Island she was scuttled 16.September 1995. The old destroyer rest today as a pretty decent "Donald Duck" wreck with a slight listing on a depth of 10 to 30 meter north of Victoria. Also see her sister ship HMCS Yukon in California, USA.
