HMCS
Saguenay was a St. Laurent class destroyer laid down by
Halifax Shipyard Limited in April 1951. She was launched
in July 1953 and was commissioned three years later. She
was specialized in anti submarine warfare during the cold
war, and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific ocean's.
She was refitted several times during her career, and was
given a helicopter platform among other advanced weapons
systems. She was decommissioned in June 1990 and was sold
four years later to South Shore Marine Park Society. She
was rigged down and prepared as a future artificial reef,
and was scuttled 25. June 1994. The wreck rest today on a
depth of 27 meter outside Lunenburg.
