USS Spiegel Grove

USS Spiegel Grove was built at Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation and launched in November 1955. She had a long career in the US Navy and after decades in service she was assigned one last task, to be sunk as an artificial reef. After being stripped down of engines and mechanical parts she was towed to Norfolk in July 2001 for final preparation. She was scuttled outside Key Largo in Florida 10.June 2002. The wreck rest on a depth of 15 to 40 meter at Dixie Shoals.
