USS Spiegel Grove


USS Spiegel Grove was a Thomaston class dock landing ship built by Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation in Pascagoula. She was launched in November 1955 for US Navy, and was commissioned in June the following year. After decades of service she was marked to be sunk as an artificial reef. After being stripped down and cleaned up, she was towed to Norfolk in July 2001 for the final preparations. She was scuttled outside Key Largo in Florida 10. June 2002, and rest today on a depth of 15 to 40 meter at Dixie Shoals.
