Sweepstakes
was a two masted schooner laid down by John Simpson in
Burlington, and was launched in 1867 for John Waldie in
Toronto. She changed owners several times before she was
bought by George Steward in Ontario in 1883. She hit
ground at Cove Island in August 1885, but was re-floated
and towed to Tobermory where she was anchored up. Due to
her damage she was rigged down and abandoned, and she sunk
the following month. The wreck rest today on her keel on a
depth of 2 to 8 meter in Big Tub harbor.
