The steamer Mysore was laid down by the Samuda Brothers in London, and was launched in June 1862 for the British company Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company. Under a journey from Alexandria to Bombay with 34 passengers and loaded with general goods, she hit ground 12.September 1869 at Sha’ab Abu Nuhas and stood firmly fixed on the reef. Two days later she broke in two and disappeared in the deep. The wreck was found in 1984 and rest today on a depth of 18 to 27 meter on the north side of the reef.
