M42
Duster was a self-propelled anti aircraft light tank that
were produced for the US Army by General Motors from 1952
to 1960. They were in active duty until 1988 and were used
in the Vietnam war and the Lebanese civil war. Jordan
bought several of these tanks before they were phased out
in the 1990s. In the late 1990s two of these were bought
by Royal Ecological Diving Society. 1. September 1999 they
dumped them outside Akaba to advance diving and as
artificial reefs. The tanks rest on a depth of 6 to 8
meter in the northern part of the harbor, and one in the
southern part at the dive site called Seven Sisters.
