Numidia

The
steamship Numidia was built by D.
& W. Henderson & Company in Scotland,
and was launched in February 1901 for Anchor Line. She was
quite a sized merchantman for her time with her 6399 gross
tons. She hit ground at El Llkwa
outside El Qoseir under her second journey rom Liverpool
to Calcutta late at night 20. July 1910. She was firmly
stuck for a whole seven weeks before she sank, and during
this time both cargo and inventory was salvaged form the
wreck. She rest today on the north side of the island
that's often called "Big Brother Island" on a depth of
approximately 8 to 78 meter.
