Numidia

The steamship Numidia was built by D. & W. Henderson & Company Ltd in Scotland and launched in February 1901 for Anchor Line. She was quite a sized merchantman for her time with her 6399 gross tons. She went down on her second journey from Liverpool to Calcutta in the Red Sea. At night 20.July 1910 she ran aground on El Llkwa outside El Qoseir. She was stuck for a whole seven weeks before she sank, and during this time both cargo and inventory was salvaged. The wreck rest today on the north side of the island that's often called "Big Brother Island" on a depth of 8 to 78 meter.
