The
American PBR
boats - Patrol Boat Riverine, was designed by the US
Navy to be used on the rivers in Vietnam
during the Vietnam war between 1965 to 1973. Several of
these boats were sold to Israeli in the late 1960's and
1970's. But it turned out these boats were not so
effective in open waters, and were retired from active
service in the 1980's by the Israeli navy. In 1987 one of
these retired boats was deliberately scuttled outside
Eilat by the Israel Diving Federation. The wreck rest
today on a depth of 28 meter, resting on her keel as a
classic Donald Duck wreck outside Coral Beach in Eilat.
