Burutu Palm was a cargo freighter built by Short Brothers Ltd in Sunderland, and was launched in 1952. She sailed for the British company Palm Line until she was sold to the Greek company Naviera Astrocid in 1967 and renamed Thyu. She was sold again six years later to Singapore and Globe Navigation, and renamed to Globe Star. Under a journey from Dakar to Karachi with wheat, she ran aground and broke in two outside Mombasa 27. April 1973. She was later partly salvaged and demolished, and her remains rest today southeast of Mombasa on a depth of 4 to 12 meter.
