The tanker Thorsaga was laid down at Burmeister - Wain's Maskin & Skipsbyggeri in Copenhagen and was launched in April 1960 for the Norwegian company Thor Dahl Hvalfangerselskap. Nine years later she was sold to Produce AS in Haugesund and renamed Produce. Under a journey from Mauritius to New Orleans loaded with molasses she hit ground at Aliwal Shoal outside Durban 11. August 1974.  She sank within a few hours and was written of as a total loss. The wreck rest today in three separate parts south of Durban at Umkomaas at Aliwal Shoal on a depth of 20 to 35 meter.
