Berge Captain was a bulk carrierbuilt by Mitsubishi Dockyard & Engineering, and was launched in 1983 for Mediterranean Bulkcarriers Incorporated. She changed owners and names several times before she ended up with sailing for Universal Pearls SA as Treasure. Under a journey from China to Brazil loaded with iron ore, she developed a leak under rough weather outside the coast of South Africa in June 2000. She sank 23.June 2000 and caused an environmental disaster due to her wreck leaking a big amount of bunker oil. The wreck rest today between Robben and Dassen island on a depth of 30 to 50 meter.
