HMS Ardent sunk 22.May 1982 after being attacked by Argentinian A-4 Skyhawk planes the day before. The frigate supported Operation Sutton and bombarded the Argentinian airbase at Goose Green 21.May, and was attacked by several planes. The frigate was heavily damaged in these attacks, and sat course towards Port San Carlos. Outside Grantham Sound she was again attacked, and after this assault order to abandon ship was given. Ardent burned through all night and sank 06:30 in the morning the next day.
