Goncalo Coelho

USS-LSM 119 was built by Brown Shipbuilding Company in Houston, and was launched in November 1944. She was a medium landing ship for US Navy whosaw little action in world war two, and was decommissioned  in 1946. She was sold in 1958 to Tidewater Barge Lines and converted to a freighter and named Tropic Gale. In 1986 she was sold to the Brazilian government and renamed Goncalo Coelho. After thirteen years of service, she was deliberately scuttled 29. December 1999 about eight nautical miles outside Serrambi in Rio Grande de Sul as an artificial reef. The wreck rest today on a depth of 15 to 35 meter.
