Bouvet
2 was a steam whaler laid down by Smith's Dock COmpany Ltd
in Middlesbrough and was launched in August 1930 for the
Norwegian whaling company Waalman & Bugge. She was
sold two years later Christina Salvesen in Leith, and
after the outbreak of World War Two she was requisitioned
as an auxiliary minesweeper by the Royal Navy. She was
returned to her owner in April 1946, and the year after
sold to Cia. Industrial in Valparaiso and renamed Indus 8.
She sank after she hit ground at Bajo de la Casualidad
at full speed after leaving harbor in Pichidangui
15. November 1954. The wreck rest today standing
on her keel on a depth of 30 to 35 meter in the bay
northeast of Pichidangui.
