USS
Riverside was built for US Navy as an attack transport was
and launched in April 1944. She was put in service in the
Pacific with transporting troops and military supplies.
After the war she did several tours returning soldiers
back to USA, and was stricken from the navy lists in May
1946. Two years later she was sold to Argentina and
renamed P&T Forrester. In the coming years she changed
name and owners several times before she hit ground and
shipwrecked in Smyth Channel 31.March 1968. The wreck rest
today partly submerged with the stern visible on the
surface ooutside Isla Isabel.
